2005 - An Exciting Year!

The Michigan Lottery reported annual sales of $2.07 billion in fiscal 2005, and generated $667.6 million in net revenue for the state School Aid Fund, which supports public education programs throughout the state.  Retailers received annual commissions of $152.6 million, while Michigan Lottery players collected prizes worth $1.16 billion.

Largest Jackpots Awarded in Michigan

$208,000,000 The third highest jackpot in Mega Millions history and the largest jackpot in Michigan Lottery history was won by a Port Huron couple, Ralph and Mary Stebbins, on April 22, 2005. The advertised jackpot was $205,000,000, but high tickets sales raised the amount to $208,000,000.

$181,500,000

The Big Game set the record for the largest jackpot in North American history on May 9, 2000 when it reached $363,000,000.  Larry Ross of Shelby Township won half of that jackpot, as he was one of the two winning ticket holders for the May 9, 2000 Big Game drawing.

$107,000,000

Linda Calliea of Chesterfield Township won this Big Game jackpot prize in the January 30, 2001 drawing.

$80,000,000

Thaddeus Coats of Inkster won this Big Game jackpot prize in the January 11, 2002 drawing.



Highest Payouts in Michigan Lottery History

$4,965,980 on June 10, 1986 for the number 123 – 489% of the amount wagered that day.

$13,965,844 on April 15, 2004 for the number 1010 – 2,600.0% of the amount wagered that day.

$48,785,500 on February 25, 1995 (total jackpot, plus prizes for matching 4 and 5 numbers).

The Big Game

$185,546,351 on May 9, 2000 (total jackpot, plus prizes ranging from $1 to $150,000 for matching eight other combinations).
